“No Pain, No Gain.”
Practical Career Mentoring with the Employment & Career Team Mentor of BTS Youth Self-Reliance Mentor Group
Kang Ki-beom, a graduate of Dongmyung University, spent approximately 10 months in Sydney, Australia, on a Working Holiday visa. During his stay, he worked part-time at three different workplaces and gained a variety of practical work and life experiences.
In particular, he gained hands-on experience in distribution and warehouse operations, including inventory management and order processing, which were closely related to his university major in Port Logistics System. These experiences helped him develop a practical understanding of logistics operations and the workplace.
Currently, Kang is seeking a career in the freight forwarding industry, where he hopes to utilize both his academic background and overseas work experience. He is preparing to apply to a freight forwarding company located in Jungang-dong, Busan, while preparing his application documents and interview.
As part of this mentoring activity, an Employment & Career Team Mentor from the BTS Youth Self-Reliance Mentor Group joined Kang for a practical mock interview designed to simulate an actual recruitment interview in the logistics industry.
The mentoring session was scheduled for 8:00 a.m. This early appointment also provided an opportunity to assess and discuss important qualities for professional life, including punctuality, workplace etiquette, responsibility, confidence, and a positive attitude toward employment.
During the mock interview, Kang also practiced how to effectively connect his academic major, overseas work experience, and practical logistics skills with the requirements of a career in freight forwarding.
This mentoring session was more than simply an interview exercise. It was an opportunity for Kang to identify his strengths, organize his previous experiences, and prepare himself for the realities of the workplace. It also represents the BTS Youth Self-Reliance Mentor Group's commitment to supporting young people in their career development, employment preparation, and successful transition into independent social life.
“No Pain, No Gain.”
Every experience can become a valuable asset through continuous learning, preparation, and perseverance. We hope that Kang will continue to challenge himself, strengthen his professional capabilities, and successfully build his career in the global logistics industry.
The BTS Youth Self-Reliance Mentor Group continues to support young people through career mentoring, employment guidance, and personal development programs to help them discover their potential and achieve greater independence in society.
